We will share dramatic video clips from our work with Melanie, emphasizing key features of her assessment, treatment, and relapse prevention. You will also have the chance to practice key techniques in small breakout groups and get feedback during the workshop.
This workshop will touch your heart!
You will LOVE Melanie and learn a ton!
You’ll learn how to:
Uncover feelings of shame using skillful empathy techniques
Bring resistance to conscious awareness and defeat it
Accurately pinpoint the thoughts that trigger feelings of shame, anxiety, inadequacy, and anger
Use the Paradoxical Double Standard, Externalization of Voices, and Feared Fantasy Techniques to crush feelings of shame.
Heal yourself while you learn to help your patients
Use interpersonal exposure techniques to help your patients confront their fears and reduce shame
Dear Dr. Burns,
I have read your book, Feeling Great, and it has helped me tremendously! I seem to be in a rut however and I can tell I’m slipping back in progress. It feels like there’s more resistance to my thoughts and feelings than there used to be, and I can’t seem to make much progress. It seems Positive Reframing has not been having the same effect since I’ve been in this rut. I’m wondering if maybe I tried a half truth or rationalization and that caused the spike in my subconscious resistance/defensiveness? I’ve been trying to make sure I don’t do those especially recently. What are some errors people make that might cause something like this? Thanks!!!
Thanks! One common error is not giving me some specific I might ber ablet to comment on or help with! Try again if interested. Warmly, david
