I suddenly discovered bunch of additional wonderful Maryam Hamidi photos from our Sunday hike. You can see several views from near the top as we were hiking, plus some shots of my living room, including the flowering ornamental cherry trees we can see through the windows. I hope you enjoy the photos!
My wife and I are incredibly grateful to be back home to California after twenty years in Philadelphia. Philadelphia was tremendous in terms of my career, plus we had many wonderful friends and colleagues there, but as they say, there’s no place like home!
When we lived in Philadelphia, we came to California every summer for vacation because my wife’s folks lived here, near where my wife grew up. We got trapped in Philadelphia because the price of real estate went up so fast, and we simply could not afford to move home until 1994. When we first moved back, I used to cry as I would drive around in Palo Alto and Los Altos because I would have wonderful memories of things I did at this or that street corner, on my motorcycle when I was a medical student at Stanford. And now every day I feel like I am on vacation! Very grateful!
To me, California has always meant magic, and the magic is still happening!

We sometimes go up the Rhus Ridge trail (https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/black-mountain-via-rhus-ridge), or one of the trails at Hidden Villa Ranch (http://www.hiddenvilla.org/visit), and often hike through Foothills Park as well (http://www.cityofpaloalto.org/gov/depts/csd/parks/preserves/foothills.asp), and sometimes start out at the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve (http://www.openspace.org/preserves/rancho-san-antonio). You can’t miss on any of these trails!
